Beat Them Up is a game in which you have to hit enemies in rhythm with the music. The catch is that you have a large range of attacks and can almost freely use them to defeat the opponents.
The game rewards the player for their timing and the diversity of their attacks.
Game Design
- As a game designer, I had to determine the properties of each attack (their range, strength and the points awarded to the player). These properties are summed up here.
I also worked on the game's balance, the scoring system and did the game's prototype, coding and integration.
Level Design
- The level design might not be completely apparent : it mainly consisted in placing the notes.
I worked on this with a team member, but the task had to be re-done several times as the earliest builds proved to be too difficult.
- My other responsibility was to place all the NPCs in the scene and timing them so that they would appear at the right time on screen.
