Fortuna's Tower is a puzzle platformer set in a game show hosted by the enigmatic Fortuna. You play the role of a participant burdened with debts who has been chosen as the tower's guide. As such, you will control and risk the lives of four other participants who are also in dire need of money.

Game Design

  • In my role as game designer on Fortuna's Tower, I first worked on the puzzle's logic and determined what method would be the best to locate the player in a 3D environment.
  • Next, I devised the rules in the platforming part with the team, designed the management part of the game and balanced the game's difficulty upon receiving feedback.
  • I also designed the tutorial, and the narration behind it.
  • Lastly, I did the game's prototype, coding and integration.

Level Design

I designed and built 3 levels in the game. The first one being the first level of the game, it was used to explain the game's basic rules to the player.
  • The second level was the tutorial's last stage and confronts the player with various obstacles. Since the level ends with one of the participant's death, the last section was designed to give a sense of urgency and add more tension.
  • The third level I designed was meant to represent a more complex stage in the late game. It features two paths : One is easier to access and less difficult but will take longer to go through. The other one will quickly take the player to the exit if he can solve one difficult puzzle.
